Één bedrijf minder voor onze econometriste?

Flowtraders kan dan wel een succesvol bedrijf zijn, maar een aanstaande econometriste in een nood helpen, daar doen ze niet aan. En de moeite nemen om haar broertje dat te laten weten, kwam ook niet bij ze op. Drie jaar geleden stuurde ik in het geheim een mail om Lieske aan een slaapplek in Singapore te helpen. Tevergeefs. Inhoudelijk, tactisch en taalkundig was de mail inderdaad niet optimaal (hieronder ongecensureerd op de achternaam na), maar een reactie zou toch wel op zijn plaats zijn geweest.

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Hub C and I am living in the Netherlands. I am an eighteen year old student, just finished with my exams and ready to study at a university.

The reason for writing you is not for myself, but for my twenty year old sister Lieske C. After two years studying Econometrics at the Maastricht University, she is allowed to study outside the Netherlands. Fortunately it was approved that she will pursue her study at the Nanyang Technological University, in the country she had chosen as her favourite one; Singapore.

Very excited she is looking forward to continue studying her favourite study at her favourite location, but there is still one problem. The Maastricht University managed to get her studying in Singapore for the next half year, but was not able to provide a place to live. There was a change to get randomly picked out to get an accommodation, but unfortunately she did not get picked.

Therefore my question; do you know any place where a student like my sister can stay during the period from about August 10 till January 15 next year? Like with everything else Liekse really wants to get managed, she already searched intensively to get a place to stay over. But nothing is available or reasonable. My father also looked for accommodation, but neither find anything. I thought, as an experienced and successful company like Flow Traders, you maybe know a reasonable place for a young econometrician to get accommodation.

My sister is a very self-responsible woman, with which I am trying to tell that she is a person who will not ask anyone for help who is not directly involved in her study-progress. Besides she is interested in a career at Flow Traders and does not want to seem like a person who is dependent of your help. Writing this not by herself maybe seems odd to you, but I hope you can understand the situation. She would feel awkward to ask for help, but I suppose there is no harm in trying to find help.

I hope you are able to help me with any useful information for my sister to find accommodation, so I will not find her surviving on the streets next to the Nanyang Technological University.

Nu is Lieske afgestudeerd en is het Singapuur-avontuur al lang geslaagd achter de rug.
Maar dus niet dankzij Flowtraders. Jammer, want ze zijn op het moment op zoek naar junior traders te Amsterdam.

Helaas kunnen we niet terug in de tijd om te checken of Triple A toentertijd op mijn mail zou hebben gereageerd. Gelukkig willen ze Lieske er in het heden wel heel graag bij hebben, en dat is nu het enige dat telt.
